Oka's Better Desert Mod

Minecraft's desert biome has remained the same for a very long time. There are sand blocks everywhere and the only real structures that you can find are villages and pyramids. Even though pyramids are unique to the desert biome, they offer no exciting content. 

Oka's Better Desert mod is here to change all of that. This mod introduces some new features that makes desert biomes even more exciting to explore. This includes new blocks and structures. Let us take a look at the new features in detail.

Desert Dungeons are a new structure added by this mod. They generate underground and you will randomly come across them when mining in desert biomes. The dungeon has long hallways inhabited by monsters. Defeat them and traverse through the dungeon to uncover treasures.

Treasure chests can be found in the main rooms found at the end of hallways. There might also be spawners that will summon monsters that you will have to fight before you can open the chests. You will also find treasure chests hidden in piles of sand in the hallways. Some rooms contain music discs that can be picked from item frames.

Another structure added by this mod is the oasis. These are small ponds of water with some greenery around them, and are found in deserts in real life. In the oases added by this mod, you will find sugarcane plants and cocoa trees.

The mod also adds a collection of new blocks into the game. There are new sandstone and red sandstone variants. These will help detail and decorate your desert themed builds. Cactus wood is a new wood type that will act as a substitute for actual wood in the desert. Two new wool variants, royal wool and tiled wool, are introduces by this mod as well.
