Vertical slabs are something a large part of the Minecraft community has been asking for many many years. But the game developers have made it very clear that vertical slabs are not getting added to the vanilla game. Do you wish there were vertical slabs in the game?
If the answer is yes, the Extended Block Shapes mod is for you. As the name suggests, this mod introduces new shapes and rotations for different blocks in the game.
With this mod installed, you can cut different shape variants of stone and metal blocks using a stonecutter workbench. The newly added variants include vertical slabs, vertical stairs, quarter blocks, vertical quarter blocks, etc.
These new block variants are not limited to just stone and metal blocks. Different shape variants of almost all other blocks can be crafted using the new recipes provided. These recipes are very intuitive and comparable to other vanilla recipes. For beginners, it is highly recommended to use the Just Enough Items mod to view all the recipes.
The addition of vertical slabs and quarter slabs make it possible to decorate your builds at an inter-block level. Trees can now have thin branches, boulders can have smaller debris around them, etc. These new block variants open up a lot more detailing options.
Just like how walls can be crafted using wood, fences can now be crafted using stone. With the mod installed, fences and walls can be crafted using anything, whether it be wood or stone. The vanilla game limits fences to wood and walls to stone. Both these limitations are now removed.
