Solar Shaders

Experience high-end shader effects on Minecraft Bedrock Edition (MCPE Console, Xbox, etc.)

Solar Shaders is a shader pack made for the Bedrock Edition of Minecraft. If you are looking for a high-quality shader pack for Minecraft Bedrock Edition (MCPE, Console, etc.), then Solar is a good choice. Let us take a detailed look at some of the best features of this amazing shader pack.

Atmospheric Effects

Having well-detailed atmospheric effects differentiates a high-quality shader from a low-quality ones. With this pack installed, you will notice colored atmospheric fog effects, dust particles, birds, etc. These effects are comparable to many shaders made for the Java Edition of the game.

PBR Effect

Solar shader applies PBR effect on many block surfaces. PBR is a popular shader effect that makes block surfaces look rough and detailed by adding intra-surface shadow effects to pixels on the block surface. The image above shows this in action.

Day and Night

As the day-night cycle passes, you will notice a massive change in the overall color of your world. At daytime, the world appears golden-orange due to the Sun, and at night-time, the world gets covered in a bluish hue due to the moonlight. These are not the only world colors. Depending on the time of the day, you will notice beautiful gradients across the sky.

Night Sky

At night-time, the sky becomes dark blue in color and will be filled with a moderate amount of stars. You can occasionally auroras, shooting stars and such. The pack makes the in-game sky look a lot better in general.

Colored Light

Colored light is a shader effect that is rarely seen in Bedrock edition shader packs. This feature basically makes it so that the color of light depends on the source emitting it. In the image above, you can see how the torch emits orange, green and blue light onto the nearby blocks depending on whether the torch is a regular one, copper torch or soul torch respectively.

God Rays

At sunrise, as sunlight finds its way through trees and other terrain features, it forms beautiful golden colored rays. This is a truly mesmerizing sight that will only last a few minutes as the run rises over the horizon.

Water Effects

Like most other shaders, Solar shaders too makes the water surface highly-reflective and realistic. You will also notice caustics when light hits underwater surfaces. Caustics are the wave-like patterns that can be seen in pools and such.

The Nether

When it comes to the Nether, you will not notice a massive change in the atmospheric effects. The color of the distant fog depends on the biome you are in - red shaded fog when the player is in a crimson forest and blue shaded fog when the player is in a warped forest. Be on the look-out for soul fire in wasteland biomes, as they now emit blue colored light.

The End

If the shader effects in the Nether dimension failed to impress you, the End will make up for it. When you first enter the End, onto the central island, you will not notice much. But as you move towards the outer End islands, you will notice the End sky getting filled with vertical light beams that gradually shifts between purple and blue. This makes End exploration feel a lot more immersive.

The images above shows some beautiful visuals from the End.

Glowing Ores

Another small feature introduced by this pack is that it makes ore blocks emissive. Ore blocks now appear to glow, which makes them easier to spot regardless of the light-level around them.

Conclusion

Solar Shaders transforms Minecraft Bedrock Edition into a visually captivating experience that is on-par with many Java Edition shaders. From golden daytime hues, colored dynamic lighting, and glowing ores to stunning vertical light shifts across outer End islands, this pack dramatically enhances ambient immersion without stripping away the core feel of the game.

When it comes to performance, the pack is surprisingly well-optimized for a high-end shader. Modern mid-range mobile devices and budget PCs with integrated graphics can maintain a stable 30 to 45 FPS at medium chunk render distances, while dedicated mid-range graphics cards (such as an NVIDIA GTX 1060 or better) can comfortably reach 60+ FPS at 1080p resolution.
