Chocapic13 V6 Lite Shaders

Remarkable performance, even on low-end systems with no GPU!

Most shader packs are designed to work on mid-end to high-end devices. There is a collection of few shader packs designed for low-end systems, but almost all of them have terrible visuals, while cutting down a major portion of your already low FPS count. Do you have a low-end system?

If the answer is yes, the Chocapic13 v6 Lite shader pack is what you need.

Even if your device does not have a GPU, you can expect decent performance with Chocapic13 v6 Lite. From our testing on a basic 4GB RAM, core i3 laptop with an Intel integrated GPU, the game performed well at over 30 FPS with this pack. Let us take a detailed look at the features of this impressive shader pack.

Lighting and Atmospherics

Simulates volumetric features

This is the major reason why someone would choose to use a shader pack in the first first place - Good lighting and Atmospheric detailing. Even though the pack is explicitly a low-end pack, the quality is lighting is comparable to similar mid-end packs. Features like godrays and distance-based fog effects, which attempts to simulate high-end features like volumetry can be observed in action.

Nighttime Visuals

Night World

Night World

Moonlit, star-filled sky

The shader unveils a mesmerizing sight at nighttime. As the sun sets and the moon appears, the sky will begin to glow in a greyish-blue moonlight. Even the moon emits godrays that strike the clouds. The world in general becomes dark, giving emphasis to the moonlit starry sky.

The comparison slider above clearly showcases the difference in lighting and sky visuals during the night versus the day, for the same landscape. The entire color scheme has shifted, while the atmospheric fog effect remains a constant.

Water Surface

Semi-realistic reflections

Wavy water is one of the beautiful aspects of using a shader pack. The pack provides a beautiful wavy water surface which can reflect the environment with distortions, simulating real-life behavior. In the two images above, you can also notice how direct/indirect sunlight, affect the overall color scheme of the water surface and reflections.

Underwater Visuals

Thick fog and depth effects

When you dive underwater, a thick fog-like atmospheric effect can be seen at play. This effect makes distant features harder to identify. When viewing deep waters from the surface, you will also notice that the tone darkens based on the depth of the water body. Features closer to the surface are easier to identify when viewed from the surface and they fade into the darkness as the depth increases.

Wavy Grass and Leaves

The beauty of waving foliage is another reason why players opt to enable shaders. Even though it is made for low-end systems, Chocapic13 v6 Lite still provides wavy grass and wavy tree leaves, making your world look fresh and lively.

Shadows - Genuine Thoughts

Shadow Quality

Shadow Quality

A genuine review

Good quality shadows require high processing power. The game has to trace out the path light rays travel in order to map shadows. And for that reason, the shadows introduces by this pack are of not very good quality. This will not be an issue during live gameplay, when you are constantly moving. But in still screenshots, shadows falling at sharp angles can look jagged.

The Nether

When it comes to the Nether, light emitting blocks like glowstone appear to have a bloom effect applied on them, making them stand out. There is also a thick fog effect in play, which can obstruct your view at times. Basically, darker areas appear darker and lighted areas appear well lit, with a thick atmospheric fog blanketing over all.

The End

A bloom effect can be found to be applied onto light emitting block like the End Crystals on the End pillars. This effect appears to be more intense here than the one seen in the Nether dimension. The sky appears a lot more noisier and a tick vignette effect can be observed. The atmosphere in general is a lot darker than in the vanilla game.

Conclusion

The Chocapic13 v6 Lite shader pack, is without a doubt, one of the best packs for players with low-end systems. While other low-end packs compromise on key shader pack features to optimize for performance, this pack does things different. All of the important aspects of a shader pack are included, with little to no impact on performance. Even though the pack was originally made nearly a decade ago, it still works on modern game versions, on both Optifine and Iris. Download the pack from the DOWNLOADS tab.
