A very simple mod that adds unique dungeons into the game. Dungeons2 introduces procedurally generated, multi-level, customizable dungeons to your world. The generation of these work similar to that of the vanilla strongholds, with individual rooms being created separately and they get connected in a random when they generate in your world. Let us take a look at the features of this mod, and then learn how to create a horror experience for yourself.

Entering a Dungeon

Exposed Structure

Small portion can be found exposed

Although the large majority of the dungeon lie underground, some portion might generate exposed to the outer world. This is how you find your entrance to the structure. Simply enter the ruined, exposed structure.

The Ladder

Within the exposed portion, is a ladder

Within the exposed structure, you may find a single 1 wide square hole with a ladder leading down. This is your entry point. Gear yourself up and climb in. Do not forget to take your torches, the underground dungeons have no lighting. Your vision is entirely dependent on you.

Monsters and Loot

Fight monsters, loot treasure chests

Traverse through narrow passages and semi-hidden pathways to navigate through the dungeons. As you explore, you will come across loot chests and dangerous monsters. Monster spawners are scattered around the dungeon, so do not expect the combat to ever stop.

Some rooms in the dungeon are decorated very well. You will notice many new blocks that are added to the game by this mod. These blocks can be found naturally only within these dungeons.

In the creative menu of this mod, you can see that the mod add over a hundred new blocks into the game. There are dozens of variations for the same block-type, allowing you to design and build well-detailed structures.

The Dungeon Layout

In spectator mode, we can see the full layout of the dungeon. We started from a small portion exposed at the world surface, and as you can see, the dungeons goes very deep, close to the bedrock layer. The lower portion of the dungeon is only a couple of blocks shy of the bedrock layer.

The dungeon layout is never constant. The structure generation works similar to that of strongholds. Individual rooms are created beforehand, and they are joined together based on your world seed, to form a massive dungeon network.

Gameplay

This is a horror mod. Playing it with a horror-themed shader pack can truly elevate the horror experience. It is recommended to use a shader like Spooklementary, Insanity, or Hysteria while exploring these dungeons. Let us take a look at some gameplay screenshots.
