Immersive Enchanting Mod

A new and improved enchantment system that gives you a tree-like system to strategically apply enchantments on your gear at the cost of materials.

Enchanting in the vanilla game is done by one of the two ways - enchanting using books with the help of an anvil, or the straight-forward way of using an enchantment table. This Immersive Enchantment mod completely rewrites this system, introducing a new system that is not dependent on luck or requires unfairly expensive XP usage.

Enchantment-Tree GUI

A tree-like interface

Right-clicking on an enchantment table in the vanilla game will open up a GUI with three unknown enchantments to gamble from. But with this mod installed, the GUI is replaced with a enchantment-tree that allows you to strategically apply enchantments of your choice. The item to be enchanted is placed at the center of the tree.

Chiseled bookshelf integration

The mod introduces several different "knowledge" books that the player can obtain by looting treasure chests. These are NOT one-time use enchantment books. To utilize the knowledge, you need to place chiseled bookshelves around your enchanting table as shown above. You should then place your "knowledge" books into these chiseled bookshelves.

No more XP limitations

Based on the book or combination of books that you have placed into the chiseled bookshelves, different enchantments will be unlocked for your item. You can then hover over the unlocked enchantments to view their cost. Unlike vanilla, enchanting with this mod installed does not cost you XP. Rather, it requires you to collect different materials depending on the enchantment and its level.

Upgrade your enchantments one level at a time

While the vanilla game depends on a randomness factor to give you the random level of an enchantment, this mod makes things more structures. The first enchantment you unlock and purchase will be the level 1 variant of that enchantment. You can then pay more materials to upgrade that enchantment to higher levels.

Enchant with actual purpose

Enchant with purpose - this defines the core goal behind this mod. You can now utilize the structured enchanting system introduced by this mod to carefully strategize what specific enchantments to apply to a piece of gear. This saves XP, resources and unwanted enchantments effects from coming into action.

You can switch over to the secondary "utility" tab of the enchanting table GUI to view a list of possible enchantments that are unlocked using the current "knowledge" books that you have placed into the nearby chiseled bookshelves.

Conclusion

In short, this mod picks up what used to be an unstructured and random-dependent aspect of the game and makes it much more structured and understandable. The new enchantment system fixes the flaws of the vanilla one without being too overpowered. Download this mod using the links provided in the Downloads tab.
