Leathered Boots Mod

Powdered snow was introduced into the game in a recent update. This block has some unique properties, and one amongst them is the ability to make players sink as if they were in quicksand. Once players are sunk, they immediately start experience a freezing effect, that will eventually lead to death.

Players can prevent themselves from sinking into powdered snow by wearing leather boot. But leather boots are not very resistant and this is a serious sacrifice of armor protection. The Leathered Boots mod is here with the solution. This mod allows you to leverage the benefits of wearing leather boots, without sacrificing armor protection.

As seen in the image above, a player wearing diamond boots is still able to walk over powdered snow as if he were wearing leather boots. This is because the diamond boots have been leathered.

To leather a boot, you have to upgrade it using a Leather Upgrade Template in a smithing table.

This applied to all tiers of boots - chainmail, iron, gold, diamond and netherite. All of these five boot variants can be leathered.

The smithing template required to perform the leather upgrade can be commonly found in igloos, pillager outposts, shipwrecks, and trail ruins in snowy/frozen biomes. Once a template is obtained, you can duplicate it using the following recipe.

Note: In pre-1.20 versions, you can craft a leathered boots by combining a regular boot and a leather boot in a crafting table.

Once you have obtained your leather boots, you can further customize it by combining it with a dye of your choice in a crafting grid. You can right click a dyed boot on a water filled cauldron to remove the dye.
