Create: Energy Cannons Mod

There are some differences between the cannons built using Create: Energy Cannons and Create Big Guns. Let us understand the features/functions of new items introduced by the Create: Energy Cannons add-on mod. We will do so by building a railgun and a laser cannon. Step-by-step instructions are provided.

How to Build a Railgun?

Energy cannons are always build on the new Energy Cannon Mount introduces by this mod. For building a railgun, we will use the Steel Cannon Chamber and Steel Quick-Fire Breech introduced by the Create Big Cannons mod.

Four new barrels are introduced by the mod. These are the steel and nethersteel variants of railgun and coilgun barrels. All of them essentially have similar functionality. For our tutorial, we will be using the Steel Railgun Barrel.

It is highly recommended to wear the "Engineer's Goggles" introduced by Create mod. This will allow you to view certain data associated with some of the new blocks.

Let us now build a railgun.

Cannon Set-Up

This is the basic cannon set-up. Let us now build the barrel, input some ammunition and shoot a projectile.

The railgun works as expected. Let us now learn about the cooldown period.

Cooldown

In the second image, you can see a progress bar corresponding to the cooldown period of the cannon. If you attempt to shoot the next explosive before the cooldown period is over, your projectile will explode as soon as it touches the hot barrel, essentially blowing up your cannon.

Cannon Ammunition

Energy cannon ammunition required you to place magnetic sleds on them, or else they simply will not work. Also, you need to ensure that an impact fuze is attached, so that the projectile will explode on impact. Let us take a look at how to attach both to a High Explosive (HE) shell.

The cannon we built only point straight forward. Let us take a look at how we can adjust its yaw.

Yaw Adjustment

If you have studied about projectile motion, you would know that a projectile will attain maximum range if you shoot it from a 45 degree positive yaw angle.

How to Build a Laser Cannon?

The steps to build and use a laser cannon is the even more simpler. You only need to place down an Energy Cannon Mount with a FE power source and correct lever. Only the Laser block is required to be placed onto the mount.
