Fake Players Mod

Mod Review: Fake Player Mob – Your New Favorite Dummy Buddy

Alright, so I stumbled upon this mod called Fake Player Mob, and I’ve gotta say—it’s lowkey genius. At first, I thought it was just another cosmetic thing, but no, this mod is packed with surprisingly useful and just plain fun features.

What’s the deal?

Basically, it adds these mobs that look exactly like real players. And I don’t mean kind of like players—I mean spot-on, from skins to usernames. You can name them, armor them up, make them do stuff, and they’ll totally blend in.

They wander around like clueless noobs, fight back when attacked, and even have inventory slots you can use. You can slap a name tag on them to change their skin based on an actual Minecraft username, or go advanced and upload a custom skin from a URL (yep, there’s even a command for that: /players url <entity> <url>

Interactions? Oh yeah.

The interaction system is what really sold me. You can:

  • Toggle their AI with an observer block

  • Make them sit on stairs or sleep in beds (adorable)

  • Use slabs to switch between slim and normal skins

  • Hide/show name tags with paper

It’s all super intuitive and makes the fake player feel almost alive… or at least like a really obedient multiplayer friend.

Skins? They nailed it.

Skins are handled so well in this mod. If you use a player’s name, it grabs the correct skin automatically. But if you want more control, there’s a trending skins GUI you can access with a shift + right-click. It even supports slim skins (hello, Alex model), so you’re fully covered no matter the vibe.

Crafting One

You’ll need to combine a Robot Shell and a Robot AI. The recipes are in the gallery, but it’s not overly complicated. Just a nice balance of effort and reward.

Fake Player Mob isn’t just for trolling your friends (though it’s great at that too). It’s a super flexible, well-made mod that opens up a ton of creative and practical uses—from setting up mock players in your base to testing traps, or just making your world feel a bit less lonely.

It’s polished, fun, and surprisingly versatile. Highly recommend for survival players, content creators, or anyone who’s ever wanted a buddy that listens without talking back.
