X Ray Glow | Spectator Toggleable X Ray Texture Pack

An XRay pack that lets you spot ores in spectator mode. Make ores glow emissive in the dark and spot them with ease.

Most x-ray texture packs make all blocks fully transparent, except for ores. But the X Ray Glow | Spectator Toggleable X Ray texture pack does things in a slightly different way. While most x-ray packs make it easy to locate ores by making all other blocks completely transparent, this pack does so by making fully enclosed ore blocks emissive and visible while you are in spectator mode.

Spectator Mode Clipped

Spectator Mode Clipped

No blocks are practically fully transparent. But in the vanilla game, if you clip through blocks while in spectator mode, you will be able to see through the world. Caves and other non-filled areas will still be visible. This pack simply makes ores visible too. By using the OptiFine mod along with the pack, you will be able to make the ores emissive.

These "emissive" ores do not literally emit light. But they behave as if they are lit at the maximum light level. Meaning, if you are in a fully dark cave, the exposed ores will stand out very well. In modern versions of the game, there are large caves with hundreds of exposed blocks. Simply enabling this pack while in such a cave can help locate plenty of exposed ores.

Some things to consider:

  1. Using a pack like this, that provides gameplay advantage, is prohibited on most multiplayer servers. Refer to the server rules before usage to avoid getting banned.

  2. Emissivity of ore textures are only enabled if you have the OptiFine mod installed.

  3. If you prefer not to use OptiFine, use a fullbright texture pack like the ones suggested below this article.
