Genesis Mod

New and structured progression mechanics that will make the survival experience a lot more immersive and challenging.

Although the Genesis mod provides a easy-to-understand in-game guide for the game progression, here is a simple guide to help you navigate through the very early stages of the game.

Crafting a Campfire

Crafting a campfire is an important starting point, as it is important to attain the solace player effect. Campfire is also required to progress through the various crafting transformations you will need in the early stages of the game. Start by breaking some gravel to obtain "flints". Throw four sticks and right click nearby them using the new "flints" item to place a campfire.

Once the campfire is set up, you will have a place to cook your food and rest while you enjoy them. The Solace effect regenerates health when cooking and eating food directly next to a campfire

Crafting and Using a Clay Cauldron

Place five clay balls into the 3x3 crafting grid of a crafting table to craft a Clay Cauldron.

Cook the Clay Cauldron over using a campfire to bake it into a Terracotta Cauldron.

Place dirt blocks inside a terracotta cauldron by right-clicking on it. Right-click on it further to sift through the dirt. Sifting will cause the dirt level inside the cauldron to drop, eventually leaving you with a few clay balls. This is a mechanism that will essentially help you obtain a lot of clay balls without much effort.

Crafting Tool and Weapon Casts

Use the above recipe to combine nine clay balls into a Blank Clay Cast.

Combine the Blank Clay Casts with flint in different crafting shapes to obtain clay casts for specific tools and weapons like axe, sword, pickaxe, hoe and shovel.

You are not done. Once casts are shaped for specific tools, you need to bake them over a campfire in order to make them useful. You need a new workbench called the "Assembly Table" in order to use these casts for crafting tools and weapons.

Crafting and Using an Assembly Table

Simply place a regular crafting table into a crafting grid to craft it into an Assembly Table.

The Assembly Table has a dedicated slot for placing a cast. Place the cast of your choice and materials for crafting. At this stage of progression, you can use sticks and wooden planks to craft wooden tools. As you progress further through the mod, you will unlock gear of higher tier.

Note that casts are single use and will break as soon as you craft a tool/weapon using it.

Primitive Kilns and Smelting

Furnaces are difficult to obtain at this stage of progression. Use the recipe above to craft Clay Kilns and bake them over campfire to obtain Terracotta Kilns.

Place the Terracotta Kiln directly over a burning campfire. These kilns have a GUI of their own that you can open simply by right-clicking on them. Kilns act as an early game furnace, that helps smelt raw ores like iron and copper.

Further Progression

The Advancements screen now has a tab dedicated to Genesis mod progression.

The contents of this tab is well organized with different aspects of progression well categorized. hover over specific progression stages and the tooltip that appears will well describe the qualifications required to unlock that progression level.

Conclusion

This simple guide covers the basic stages of progression that is required to begin with this mod. From here on, you can follow the new Genesis Advancements tab and the in-game guide that appear as toasters. Good Luck!
