Tired of villagers making enchantments too easy? Librarian’s Balance reworks librarian trades for a more rewarding progression—earn, discover, and trade your way to the best enchantments!
If you've ever felt that villager trading makes enchantment progression too easy, Librarian’s Balance is here to fix that. This mod/datapack tweaks librarian trades to encourage a more natural and rewarding way to build your enchanted gear—no more instantly rolling the perfect book with a few emeralds.
Instead of instantly unlocking any enchantment, librarians now work with you to expand your collection:
Customizable Trades: Place an enchanted book on a librarian’s lectern, and they’ll offer it as a trade. This makes finding books in the world much more valuable.
Level 4 & 5 Require Effort: Librarians only offer Level 3 books or lower by default. To get higher-level books, you’ll need to combine lower-tier ones or provide them manually.
No More Easy Mending: Mending is no longer a guaranteed trade. Instead, you’ll have to find it in End Cities or Ancient Cities first—then you can trade for more.
On multiplayer servers, enchantment progression can sometimes feel rushed, with players quickly maxing out gear through villager trading. Librarian’s Balance ensures that enchantments require actual effort, whether through exploration, anvil crafting, or strategic trading. Plus, everything is configurable using /function libal:config, so you can tweak it to fit your world.
If you want a fairer, more immersive way to collect enchantments, Librarian’s Balance makes every book feel earned. No more easy shortcuts—just good, rewarding progression!
