Explore the upcoming vanilla Sift dimension! A vibrant place with a lot to explore.

The 2026 Minecraft live announced the introduction of a new dimension into the game. For the first time in nearly 15 years, a new dimension is getting added to the game. This new dimension, called The Sift, is a vibrant destination with a lot to explore. Just few days before the announcement, developer Mielon published his Mielon's The Sift mod, which is based on the concept of the Sift, which will soon be a part of the vanilla game. Let us take a detailed look at this mod.

Entering The Sift
Through the Ancient City Portal
Entering the Sift dimension in Mielon’s The Sift mod starts by finding an Ancient City and playing a Goat Horn at its center. This summons a Singer, whose song awakens the eight Sonorous Deepslate blocks in front of the Reinforced Deepslate portal frame. Place Note Blocks on the awakened blocks, right-click to tune them, and then left-click to play the notes in the sequence 1 → 3 → 7 → 6 → 5 → 2 → 4 → 8. Completing the melody opens the Ancient City portal, allowing you to explore the Sift dimension.

The Sift dimension features towering red stone pillars, steep cliffs, and deep valleys that create a rugged Minecraft landscape. Massive natural arches connect sections of the terrain, while uneven ledges and stepped slopes give the surroundings a weathered appearance. Red ground vegetation blends into the rocky surface, with patches of green growth and pale flowers adding contrast.

The Sift has a couple of different biomes, all of which are very different from one another, but also blends in well with one another to form the Sift itself. The deep dark based biome, which inhabits dark sniffers and can summon wardens, seem to the only one that stands out a lot. The dark appearance of this biome stands out well from all the other vibrant biomes.
The Sift dimension takes on a noticeably different atmosphere between day and midnight. During the day, warm golden light highlights the red stone pillars, green vegetation, and distant terrain. At midnight, deep blue tones replace the bright glow, turning the towering formations into dark silhouettes while colorful floating shapes stand out against the sky.

Echo Golem: The Echo Golem is a rare mob in the Sift dimension that searches Soul Canyons for Soul Blocks and carries them to the surface. Players can use an Echo Shard to permanently bond with an Echo Golem, causing it to deliver collected Soul Blocks to them instead of a Singer.
Dark Sniffer: The Dark Sniffer is a hostile variant created when a Sniffer becomes infected after digging into Sculk. It can uncover Sculkflower Seeds and use its Sonic Sniff ability to pull distant targets toward it. Wardens leave Dark Sniffers unharmed and may occasionally approach and pet them when completely calm.

Blub: The Blub is a small, rabbit-like neutral mob found in the overgrown biomes of the Sift dimension. Players can attract it by holding a Soul Block, with each feeding offering a one-in-three chance of taming it. Once tamed, Blubs can follow their owner, sit, and defend them, while their ears droop farther backward as their health decreases.
Sifter: The Sifter is a fast predator found throughout the Sift dimension, particularly in Overgrown Forests. These creatures can appear alone or in groups of up to five, making encounters with a pack more dangerous. Sifters drop Raw Sifter Meat when killed

Ichor is a restorative fluid found throughout the Sift dimension that grants Regeneration I to living entities touching it while slightly slowing their movement. Players can collect it using buckets or glass bottles, with Ichor Bottles providing three seconds of Regeneration I when consumed. Ichor can also fill cauldrons, including through a slow collection process using Pointed Dripstone, but it cannot form infinite sources.

Overgrown Willow is a new wood type in Mielon’s The Sift mod, featuring dark bark and pale yellow wood that contrasts with the dimension’s red terrain. Its trees have dense, light-colored foliage and long hanging vines, giving the forests an overgrown appearance. The wood family includes planks, stairs, slabs, doors, fences, and other building blocks, offering a fresh palette for Minecraft houses and decorative builds.

Temporary Sift Rifts are portals that connect the Sift dimension with the Overworld, appearing as bright, irregular openings with pink and golden edges. Natural Rifts can begin appearing after you spend several minutes inside the Sift, and each remains open for five minutes. They can transport players, mobs, vehicles, projectiles, and items, automatically creating or reusing a matching exit in the other dimension.

Mielon’s The Sift mod adds Siftslate variants of Coal, Diamond, and Emerald Ore alongside two new resources: Charoite and Siftite. Charoite offers stronger enchantments when used in place of Lapis Lazuli, while Siftite upgrades Netherite into a new tier of tools, weapons, and armor. Beyond mining and equipment, the mod introduces collectible plants, Ichor buckets and bottles, new food items, and the “Rift” music disc, giving players more resources to discover throughout the Sift dimension.
With the Sift officially announced for Minecraft Java and Bedrock Edition in 2027, Mielon’s The Sift mod gives players a way to explore a fan-made interpretation ahead of its vanilla arrival. Official announcement Its striking landscapes, unusual mobs, and new resources offer plenty to discover while anticipation builds for the official dimension. The mod’s features reflect the creator's own interpretation of the Sift rather than a preview of the upcoming vanilla update.
