Nightworld Mod

The Nightworld mod introduces a new dimension into the game. This new dimension is not someplace different, but rather very familiar. The "nightworld" dimension introduced by this mod is an exact replica of your overworld, but it is completely dominated by the night.

Is it just the overworld, but it's night-time 24/7? For the most part, yes. But there are some other features too, that we will explore in this article.

Entering the Nightworld

Crying obsidian frame

The building and activation of a Nightworld portal is exactly the same as building a Nether portal, but crying obsidian blocks are used instead of regular obsidian. Simply build a portal frame as shown in the image above and activate it using flint and steel.

Dark, and filled with monsters!

As mentioned above, the Nightworld always experiences night-time. This means, the world will be dark at all times, with monsters spawning everywhere. Surviving the Nightworld will be an experience similar to surviving an overworld night. Additionally, beds explode in this dimension, if you attempt to sleep.

Portal-summoned monsters

Nether portals in the vanilla game often summon piglins into the overworld. The Nightworld portal too has a similar feature. Occasionally, the overworld side of the portal will summon zombies and skeletons. This might seem like nothing serious, but is a point to consider if you are building your portal indoors.

Respawn Anchors

Die and respawn in the Nightworld

Respawn anchors are functional in the Nightworld, just like they do in the Nether. Place a respawn anchor and charge it using glowstone. Now, if you die in the Nightworld, you will respawn near the respawn anchor.

Other Notes

• If you intent on using the mod on a server, you only need to have it installed server-side.

• The portal frame block(s) can be configured using a datapack.

• The portal activator (here, flint and steel) can be configured too, using a datapack.
