Eclipse Shaders

Introduces incredibly detailed grass and snow effects. Feast your eyes with novelty visuals. Use in combination with Distant Horizons or Voxy to expand the visual aesthetics beyond the vanilla horizon.

The Eclipse shader pack introduces a collection of features that will help make your game look realistic and visually aesthetic. This pack is an edit of the very popular shader pack called Bliss. The pack stands unique for its unique lighting effects, water realism and nighttime effects.

Basic Effects

Volumetry

Volumetry

Volumetric clouds and lighting

The shader adds volumetry to both clouds and lighting. Volumetry is a shader effect that allows the clouds and light to behave in a three-dimensional manner, making them look realistic and much better than those by regular shaders.

Light Effects

Light Effects

Elevated realism in light behavior

Volumetry aside, the behavior of light with the shader pack installed is very notable from the moment you install this shader. While other shader packs focus on making the lighting bright and vibrant, this pack gives more focus to realism. While they may appear non-appealing at times, they are excellent for capturing breathtaking screenshots.

Shader Grass

While most other shader like volumetry and PBR are found in most high-end shaders, Eclipse offers something very unique and never seen before - Shader Grass.

You might be familiar with Minecraft YouTube videos where the game is pushed to maximum possible realism with the help of high-end shader packs and high-res texture packs. In many of these videos, texture packs are utilized to enhance the realism of grass. But with Eclipse, you don't need a texture pack to achieve that.

Shader Grass

Shader Grass

No texture pack required!

The Shader Grass feature, which is unique to Eclipse shaders, makes all grass blocks in the game have realistic waving grass growing on top of them. This truly helps elevate the in-game visuals to the next level. To activate shader grass, navigate to Shader Settings > World Settings > Foliage. Here, you can enable/disable shader grass and access its settings.

You can really feel how much an immersive atmosphere shader grass adds to your game. Even better, the grass dynamically adapts its color to match the surrounding biome — turning golden yellow in savannas and lush, vivid green across plains.

Shader Snow

Another notable feature that Eclipse offers is Shader Snow. In snowy biomes, snow layers are generated on top of blocks open to the sky. This snow layers appear as thin carpet-like blocks with absolutely no detail to them. But not anymore! Head over to the shader settings to enable Shader Snow. With this feature enabled, snow layers appear as thin, rough layers over blocks.

Shader Snow

Shader Snow

Eclipse exclusive feature

Just like with Shader Grass, this feature too is exclusive to Eclipse. These new enhanced snow layers also have PBR texture, which helps make the game feel more real and immersive.

Water Effects

Realistic Water

Realistic Water

Detailing to the maximum

The water added by the Eclipse shader pack behaves in a very realistic manner. As seen in the image above, the flowing water reflects the sun-rays close to how it should be in real life. When it rains, the water rain drops falling on the water surface actually creates puddles, adding more detail to the element of realism.

Reactive Water Surface

Reactive Water Surface

Water reacts to entities

The water surface reacts well to entities coming in contact with them. When players jump into water, puddles will be produced on the water surface. When players stride over the water, or ride in boats, a train of puddles is created likewise.

Detailing Elements

Handheld Item Shadows

Handheld Item Shadows

Shadows are well detailed

With realistic lighting, one can expect realistic shadows too. The shadow effects introduced by this pack are well reactive. They respond to changes in player behavior very well. In the image above, it can be seen that a shadow has been rendered of the sword in the player's hand.

Intense Rain Effects

Intense Rain Effects

Darker atmosphere with fog

When the weather shifts to rain, the entire atmosphere reacts to it. The clods become denser, the lighting becomes dark, and the ground becomes wet. Every detailing element that can add to the realism is well implemented. The above screenshots were taken during a regular rain during the day time. The atmosphere can get much darker during thunderstorms.

Thunder / Lightning

Thunder / Lightning

Bright, sharp and intense!

Speaking of thunderstorms, they come with a lot of lightning. The weather already makes the atmosphere very dark, and when lightning strikes, it does so with an intense glowing strike. In the image above, it can be seen how lighting reacts with the dark atmosphere.

The Moon

With the name of this shader pack being Eclipse, you can eclipse real eclipses with this shader pack installed. As noted by the developer, you can expect at least one eclipse per in-game year. The surface texture of the moon has been updated to make it look more realistic.

Distant Horizons / Voxy

Eclipse comes under the collection of very few shader packs that are compatible with LoD mods like Distant Horizons and Voxy. If you have Distant Horizons or Voxy installed, you can use this mod alongside them to make even the LoD chunks have shader effects applied on them.

The Nether

The Nether

The Nether

Classic Bliss - Nothing special!

When it comes to the Nether, it is not much different from the classic Bliss shader pack. While the atmosphere looks intense with dense Nether fog and other lighting effects, these are pretty similar to what Bliss offers.

When it comes to the End dimension, there is a thick fog that surrounds the main End island. The lighting in this dimension has been overhauled too, especially on the main island.

Performance

Based on our testing, the shader performs well on mid-end to high-end devices. However, players with low-end systems need not worry as many aspects of the shader can be configured to lower effects and improve performance. This can be done by accessing the shader pack settings.

Remarks

Even though being an edit of the Bliss shader pack, Eclipse has managed to impress and gather a decent fan-base due to the unique features and configurability it offers. Compatibility with LOD mods like Voxy and Distant Horizons further justify why many players instantly become obsessed with this shader pack.

Even on a mid-end system, players can simply toggle their shader settings to a low or medium preset to configure the settings to perform well. It is worth it to give this underrated shader pack a try, regardless of whether you have a low-end, mid-end, or high-end system.
